What are your hours?

Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm. Closing from 12-1pm for lunch.

Do you require appointments?

We always keep room in our schedule to handle those unexpected emergencies, however for regular maintenance we require an appointment so we can give your car the attention it deserves. Click here  or call to schedule an appointment that’s convenient for you!

Do you have a night/early bird drop off?

Yes, we have a key drop box for early or after hours vehicle drop off. Call us for details.

Yes, you can wait for repair on your vehicle. However, if it is a very time consuming repair or unknown diagnosis, we would ask you to leave it with us for evaluation until we can determine how long we may need your vehicle. For an oil service or light bulb replacement, we will most likely be able to accommodate your request to wait if our schedule allows. Please call us ahead of time so we can reserve time for you.
Do you have wireless internet access in your waiting room?

Yes, we do! We also have a lobby with couches, a Keuirg coffee maker, toys for children, and plenty of snacks. If you haven’t already, be sure to take the tour of our facilities.

We recommend Axis Towing Company to assist with any towing needs. Their phone number is (480) 455-7235.

Every situation is different, and we are here to make this as painless as possible. Give us a call and let us know your restrictions and we will problem solve with you and find a game plan that fits your needs.

Why don’t you do estimates over the phone?

We wish we could provide accurate estimates over the phone for you. However, we believe we’d be doing you a disservice if we were to do so. Have you had a doctor diagnose you over the phone? Your car is just like your body – except it can’t speak to tell us what is wrong with it! There is no way to tell exactly what your car might need before one of our technicians can evaluate it.
There are so many things that can cause the same symptoms, so many differences from various makes, models, and years of vehicles with so many variables that we can’t possibly know without your car in front of our trained technicians. We’d hate to tell you one thing over the phone and then find out that it’s something completely different once we look at it. That’s not a good scenario for either of us!
That being said – we will NEVER do any work that you haven’t approved. Once our highly trained technicians inspect your vehicle and we work up an estimate, you can rest assured that the price we quote you includes all parts, labor, taxes and our amazing local and national warranty, AND that there will be no surprises in the end.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, checks and cash.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, we offer financing for 6 months with zero percent interest through Car Care 1 and Synchrony Financial (paid in full within 6 months). Note, though, this is a third party we work with to help our customers and you will need to submit an application and qualify. We know you don’t always have money set aside to deal with unexpected repairs. Our primary goal is to keep you safe in your car and to make sure it last for you as long as you want it to. We will always help you prioritize repairs in order of importance, letting you know what absolutely needs to be done to keep you and your family safe, and what things you can safely put off if needed.

Is there a warranty on your work?

Absolutely! We warranty all of our repairs for 3yr or 36,000 miles, which is better than most dealers! We also back that up with a 3yr. NATIONWIDE warranty so that you are covered* for our repairs no matter where your travels may take you. Many of our repairs are even eligible for our LIFETIME – fix it once guarantees. Find out more about our warranty here.

Can I use an independent service shop while my car is covered under warranty?

You may absolutely use an independent service shop while your car is still under warranty -- it is your right. Maintenance interval services, oil changes, brakes and aftermarket accessories are all among the services we are happy to provide. Having any of these services performed at 180 Auto will not void your warranty in any way. For more information on your rights as a warranty-holder, Google Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act or visit the following Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act

Can you put the ‘machine/computer’ on my car and tell me what’s wrong?

This is a common question. Years ago, when scopes were first released, they were considered the latest in automotive diagnostics technology. Just hook up this machine to your car and it’ll automatically tell us what all of the problems are, right? Not exactly...180 Auto uses the most current factory scanners and scopes to help diagnose issues affecting your automobile. These machines output data that helps our certified technicians figure out what work needs to be performed on your vehicle. The information the machines provide only offers clues to what may be wrong, however, and it is only the expert mechanics who will be able to interpret this data and along with their own analysis of your vehicle provide you with a definitive diagnosis of what needs to be done. Using the scanner technology along with good-old-fashioned mechanical know-how provides you with the most accurate assessment of your vehicle’s needs which results in the best and most appropriate care for your car at the most cost-effective rates.

Will you scan my car for free?

The simple answer is no. The control systems in today’s vehicles are very complex. The control systems themselves and the diagnostic equipment we use to communicate with them must always have up to date software to work as they were designed to. Although, even with the most current diagnostic software and tools, they will not give a definite answer to what is wrong with the vehicle. These tools will let the trained technician see the same information and data the vehicles control systems are seeing. The trained technician must then interpret this data, and along with their own analysis of your vehicle, provide you with a definitive diagnosis of what needs to be done.

Can I bring my own parts?

We are an AAA Approved Repair Facility and AAA requires we fully guarantee every job we perform. We would lose our AAA accreditation if we were to perform a repair using your parts that, of course, we could not guarantee.

Do you accept extended/aftermarket warranties?

Yes we do. We will work with you and your insurance company to ensure you receive the services you need. Please be prepared to provide your warranty contract and the contact information of your warranty company so that we may start a claim right away.

What is a ‘No Hassle Warranty?

Everyone at one time or another has been in this situation at one time. Something is wrong with your automotive repair. Now it turns into fight just to get it resolved. You are being made to feel that you are dishonest or too demanding. Maybe that new brake job is squeaking. You are told to just keep driving it. That brand new window motor is making noise. You are told that the window is closing the way it should and to disregard the fact that it sounds like a box of rocks. Simply stated, no hassle warranty is just what it sounds like. You have a warranty issue with anything we did; we are going to take care of it period. No fighting, no screaming, no finger pointing. Just a stand up, step up to the plate, rock solid policy of customer satisfaction.

Is there really something wrong with my car if the “check engine” or “service engine soon” light is on?

Warning lights are your car’s way of communicating with you. You should never ignore a warning light. You can check your owner’s manual to find out what the different warning lights mean. Some are more serious than others. If your check engine light is flashing – it is really trying to get your attention! This generally means to pull over right away and get it towed before more damage is done. If the light is on solid you can safely drive home, but get it checked out as soon as possible before the problem potentially gets worse. There are literally hundreds of sensors and computers that monitor and control your engine; any one of these can be the culprit. It could be something very minor, or it could be something serious. We this when it comes to the life of your vehicle and the safety of you and your family – it is always better to be safe than sorry. Don’t put off getting it checked out!

Do you only service European cars?

Nope! We work on all makes and models – anything 1996 and newer. Have a car older than 1996? Give us a call or send us an email and we can recommend you to someone great that can give your vintage car the attention it deserves.

Why should I care who changes my oil?

Believe it or not – getting your oil changed is actually the least important part of getting your oil changed! The real value is in the qualified set of eyes looking at your car on a somewhat regular basis and finding potential problems before the get bigger, more expensive, or leave you stranded! Not all shops, and definitely no “speedy” lube shops are doing a comprehensive inspection when they do your oil service. We know you don’t always want to know that there is something potentially wrong with your car… no one likes spending money on car repair! However, just like if you went to the doctor and she failed to tell you that you had a lump or a spot that she was concerned about – it’s our job to find and let you know about problems before they get worse. We use only high quality parts, keep you car clean and will never sell you work you don’t need.

How often do I really need to change my oil?

There is a lot of different advice and information out there! We’re not surprised so many people ask us this question. Here are a few things that we believe…. We know you’re busy. If we say 3,000 miles – sometime you might push it till 5,000! And while that is not the end of the world… if we told you 5,000 and you pushed it to 8,000… now we start running the risk of causing bigger problems. The cost of oil and a filter is so very inexpensive in comparison to potentially needing to change expensive engine parts (or the whole engine!) due to lack of regular maintenance. This is especially true on newer cars that are more and more dependent on good oil pressure. Some manufacturers are recommending that you can go as long as 15,000 miles on synthetic oil! We think they just want you to need to buy a new car sooner! Bogi likes to put it like this…. Changing your oil is like brushing your teeth. Can you get away with doing it less then twice a day? Sure! But will you keep your teeth for long? (Or your friends!) Too much maintenance is always going to be less expensive than too little in the long run.

We recommend the following:
Conventional oil: 3 month / 3,000 miles
Synthetic (domestic and Asian): 5 months / 5,000 miles
Synthetic (European): 6 months/7,500 miles

Don’t I have to take my car back tot the dealership for regular maintenance to maintain my warranty?

Not at all! According to the Magnusson moss act, your vehicle manufacturer can not require you to bring your car to them for repairs in order to maintain your warranty as long as you can provide documentation that you have fulfilled minimum requirements of maintenance. Read more here (link to learning center article on Magnusson moss act.)

What kind of parts do you use? And can I provide my on parts?

We use original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts whenever possible. In some scenarios we will use non-OEM parts that we have determined to be of high enough quality that we are willing to put our name ad warranty behind them. Unfortunately we are unable to use customer-supplied parts. This is in your best interest! We want to be able stand behind the work that we do, we also want to make sure you get your car back as quickly as possible and that it is fixed right the first time. The only way that we can do that is by sourcing the parts ourselves.

I have an aftermarket warranty – can I come to 180?

Of course! We work with aftermarket warranties all the time. Just make sure you bring your warranty contact information with you at drop off.

Are you open on the weekends?

Unfortunately we are not open on the weekends. We believe that everyone deserves time with his or her families and to rest and recuperate. Learn more here about how we make it easy for you to get on with your life – while we take care of your car!

What if I can’t make it there during your business hours?

No problem! We have a night drop box so that you can leave your car after hours. If you can’t pick up during work hours – we’ve got you covered there too. Great question! Nothing we can say will give you that answer. We encourage you to ask questions, come meet us, check out what our clients are saying about us, and get to know us through our website and our Facebook page. With any shop, or any new relationship with a service provider, you should always feel comfortable asking as many questions as you’d like. We’re always happy to take you on a tour of the shop, meet our team, and we’ll always show you what’s wrong with your car – either in person, or with photographs – to help you understand. We want you to feel comfortable and understand the work that we perform, so there’s no such thing as a stupid question – and we’ll take all the time you need in order to feel comfortable.

Can you perform recalls or do work that is covered under warranty?

We are unfortunately not able to. At least not for free! The dealer is the only place that is authorized to perform recalls or warranty repairs on your vehicle at no charge. While we are able to do the repairs – we would have to charge you – and we’d rather you save your money for more important things!

Help! I’m not in Phoenix! Do you have a shop you can recommend where I live?!

We have a good network of shops that we recommend – give us a call or send us an email here and we’ll see if we can recommend someone near you. Or check out our shops we love page!

My car failed emissions! What do I do?

Breath! We’ve got you covered. Simply schedule an appointment and remember to bring your report from Motor Vehicles explaining why your car failed the test. We’ll look at the report and provide you with a preliminary inspection on your car and let you know what your next steps are.

Doesn’t the computer just tell you what is wrong with my car? Why do I need to pay for diagnosis?

We wish! There are many different types of “scan tools” available and they give different levels of information to the technician using them. Here at 180 Auto we continually invest in state of the art diagnostic equipment to help our technicians “speak” to your car. However - even the best tools available don’t necessarily tell us exactly what is wrong with your car. It often just points us towards which “system” (think endocrine, cardio-vascular, respiratory, etc. in the human body) but necessarily which component or what is wrong with it. When you turn your light switch in your house and the lights don’t come on, it could be just the bulb. However it could also be the switch, the socket or the wiring between the switch and the socket, or the breaker in your breaker box. Similarly, our scan tool gives our technicians direction or system to look at, however we sometimes need to test multiple components in that system till we isolate the culprit!
